Application Guide
- First name: your first and middle name as shown in passport
- Last name: your family name as shown in passport
- Gender: male or female; if you feel neither male nor female please click “other”
- Date of Birth: your date of birth in the following format dd-mm-yyyy (Example: If you were born on the 15th of April 1980, please enter 15-04-1980)
- Place of Birth: the city and country you were born in, as shown in passport
- Current residence: the city and the country you are currently registered and live in
- Citizenship of Birth: the nationality according to  the country you were born in
- Citizenship at Present: the nationality you currently hold
- Passport number and validation dates: if provided enter the number and validity dates (Date of Issue and Date of Expiry) of your passport (not of your national ID); if you don’t have a valid passport yet, please leave empty
- Address: a postal address, where you can receive letters and other mail; with:
o   Street
o   (House)Number
o   City
o   Postcode
o   Country
- Phone number and mobile number: enter the numbers in the following format: country code + regional city code with number (Example: Germany’s country code: 0049 + regional city code of Göttingen with phone number 0551123456)
- eMail Address: only use an email account where you check your inbox regularly
- Achieved academic level: enter your academic level you have reached up to now
- Targeted academic level: enter your current level of academics or the academic goal you are intending to obtain now at your university

Note to Undergraduate students: please be aware that in order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must have successfully completed at least one year of study at your home institution.
- Home University:  Enter the university you are currently enrolled in (for Postdocs, enter your institution at which you are working now). For any other institution not listed, click "other". If you are currently not enrolled in any university, click "not enrolled".
- Other Institution/ Organization: Please, enter your home institution or working place, if not listed above.
- For Academic / Administrative Staff only: choose your home university
- Applying for: please tick the box of the level of study you want to apply for, i.e.
o   Bachelor
o   Master
o   PhD
o   Postdoc
o   etc
- Applying for Target Group:
o   Target Group 1
Students and academic staff registered in one of the universities, that is a member of the partnership.
o   Target Group 2
Citizens of third-countries concerned by the geographical lot, registered in a higher education institution of these countries that is not included in the partnership.
o   Target Group 3
Citizens of third-countries of the geographical lot, who are in particularly vulnerable situations, for political or economic reasons or because of physical disabilities. For example: 
1) having a refugee status or asylum beneficiaries
2) it can be proven that they have been the object of unjustified expulsion from university on racial, ethnic, religious, political, gender or sexual inclination or 
3) they belong to an indigenous population targeted by a specific national policy or IDPs
4) ethnic minorities.
- Desired mobility duration: the amount of time you wish to spend abroad
o   1 months (staff)
o   6 months
o   10 months
o   22 months
- In case there is no scholarship left for your desired duration after the academic selection of the applicants, are you prepared to receive a scholarship for a shorter mobility period?: please tick “yes” if you are willing to receive a scholarship for a shorter period of time than your desired duration; tick “no”, if you don’t
- Field of study or research: indicate the field of study or research. All study fields are applicable.
- Preferred host universities and preferred study program: please enter your one or two choices of potential host universities and the exact study program you would like to undergo; please make sure that the study program is within the field of study you ticked above
- Sufficient language knowledge: please enter the languages you speak and write on the level “good” or above
- Do you have received an Erasmus Mundus Action 2 scholarship for the same purpose before?: tick “yes” if you have received one before and “no” if you haven’t
- Have you lived in a member country of the EU for more than 12 months over the last 5 years?: tick “yes” if you have lived in the EU for more than 12 months and “no” if you haven’t

!Note: Please be aware that, if you have received an EMA 2 scholarship before for the same type of mobility or have lived in an EU country for more than 12 months, you will not be eligible for an EMA 2 scholarship.
- Please, upload all the required documents to your application form. All documents must be provided in English. These documents are:
o   Curriculum Vitae (CV) with photo: preferably in Europass format
o   Diploma/Graduate Certificate/PhD Certificate (if provided)
o   Transcript of records
o   Motivation Letters: please attach in one file two Motivation Letters (one page each) for your first and your second choice university or study program
o   Language Certificates: the linguistic criteria may differ depending on the university and the study program you apply for; please check the admission requirements of the particular study program. The Language Certificates might be relevant for any kind of study program or the admission process, although they’re not excluding criteria within the scholarship’s selection process.
o   Letter(s) of recommendation (if provided)
o   Invitation Letter from the faculty of the host university or from your potential supervisor  (PhD, Postdoc and staff only): The Invitation Letter is of great importance; although not always an excluding criteria within the selection process.
o   Research Plan or Training Program (PhD, Postdoc and staff only)
o   Official Proof of Vulnerability (Target Group 3 only): Please, provide documents showing your particular vulnerable situation.
If there are any sufficient documents missing, your application will not be processed!

Important information
Please, be aware that by submitting this application, you are not automatically enrolling in your potential host university. In case of nomination for a scholarship, the final decision on your studies or research lays with the faculty of the host university.
